Tecnam P2012 STOL delivery dates, bookings, price announced during NBAA-BACE

The Tecnam P2012 STOL will mirror the P2012 Traveler in many ways. The Traveler (pictured above) made its first trip to NBAA-BACE.
Dubbing the Tecnam P2012 STOL (short takeoff & landing) as “Simply Tecnam Off Limits,” executive staff members of the Italian aircraft manufacturer spoke during NBAA-BACE in Orlando, saying that its latest offering will provide new travel options to more airports than ever before.
“This meets a market niche that’s been undeveloped and unsupported for decades,” said Tecnam Director of Sales Dave Copeland.
The Tecnam P2012 Traveler was first announced at NBAA-BACE in 2021 and its STOL counterpart was announced just before this year’s convention.
During the company’s press conference on Wednesday, officials announced a price point of $2.75 million and said that deliveries will begin at the end of 2023 or the beginning of 2024, with the order book now open for slots after deliveries already allocated are filled.
The twin-piston P2012 STOL can land at a distance as short as 510 feet on the ground without an obstacle or at 1,180 feet with a 50-foot-high obstacle.
For the North American market, officials told GlobalAir.com that the aircraft will be particularly attractive for those wanting to fly into demanding airports in the Caribbean and Bahamas in addition to small airports at high altitudes.
Variations making the STOL stand apart from the P2012 Traveler include a longer wingspan, a 3-blade rather than a 4-blade propeller, and the engines are manufactured by Centennial rather than Lycoming.
The cabin of the P2012 STOL will be similar to that of the P2012 Traveler.
The interior includes a central aisle with dedicated windows for each of the nine single seats, as well as USB ports, cabin air conditioning, dedicated reading lights, seat pockets and cup holders, in addition to under-seat storage.
At maximum takeoff weight of 8,113 lbs. (2,831 useful load), takeoff distance can be as little as 902 feet (1,410 feet to clear obstacles).
The cockpit of the P2012 STOL and P2012 Traveler are dubbed as SPACE (Single Pilot Advanced Cockpit Environment)
The cockpit features a G1000 NXi avionic system, and GFC700 autopilot specifically tuned for the STOL mission, along with weather radar, storm scope, inset map and Synthetic Vision.
