Sun ‘n Fun hosting fly out to Bahamas after the show ends

SUN ‘n FUN announced a fun new partnership that introduces an all-new area and includes a fly-out to Grand Bahama after the event ends, from April 2-5. Through a partnership with The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism Investments & Aviation, the fly-out aims to showcase the ease of flying to The Bahamas.

The Island will feature a café, entertainment, restrooms, showers, grocery delivery, an Uber terminal and a new tram system hub. There will also be a storefront so guests can have access to personal and aircraft camping needs. The new area will provide a relaxing social environment where attendees can find a Pilot Welcome Center, a stage for forums and movies and an area to gather and connect with other flyers.

The experience should be within the capabilities of most certified, light-sport single-engine or experimental aircraft. About 50 miles off the eastern coast of Florida sits the Bimini and Berry Islands and 60 miles out from the north, the Grand Bahama.

Over 63 airports on 16 islands are located within most GPS databases and overlapping VOR/DME and NDB symbols will provide needed guidance from the U.S. coast to some of the frequently traveled routes in the Bahamas. On the island, you are never more than 20 minutes flying time from fuel and the fly-in program participants will get a fuel discount.

Pilots are required to have a valid certificate, a medical, driver’s license, a restricted radio permit, a passport and reasonable crosswind skills. The electronic advance passenger information system (eAPIS) can be filled out as far out as 30 days in advance or as little as one hour before.

Once on the island, guests can enjoy activities like scuba diving or fishing, or just lounge around at one of the beach resorts or clubs in the area.

Pre-registration is required for the event for security purposes and registration is currently open online.
