Sheltair opens 16th FBO location

Sheltair opened a new location at the Gwinnett County Airport (LZU) on April 2. The new location is the 16th for Sheltair and the second in Georgia. The FBO will have all of Sheltair’s amenities and is located on the airport’s north side.
The FBO and hangar complex includes an FBO terminal and 208,000 square feet of hangars, ranging from general aviation t-hangars to 28’ door corporate hangars, able to fit large aircraft up to and including the Gulfstream G600 and Global 7500. The 34-acre lot includes an aircraft parking apron for both movement and parking of even the largest business aircraft.
“We have a great team and are working quickly to create the quality and customer service environment that our customers know and trust,” LZU GM Johanna Echeto said.
The LZU location, from Sheltair
Echeto has been involved with Sheltair for eight years, coming to the LZU location from the company’s Orlando Executive (ORL) FBO. The LZU team was assisted by Sheltair’s “Go Team” which brought position experts from across the company’s network to aid in operating the base while LZU employees were onboarded and trained according to Sheltair’s safety and customer service standards.
“Sheltair is excited to be adding its 2nd FBO in Georgia, especially in the Atlanta market, and looks forward to providing the same exceptional services as we do throughout our entire Network,” Sheltair’s Senior VP of FBO Operations Leonel Rivera said. “We also look forward to engaging with our local community members.”
After it acquired the leasehold at LZU, Sheltair committed to investing $17 million in a redevelopment plan, consisting of upgrades to all existing buildings, apron and parking areas, and constructing a new FBO terminal and office/restaurant space. The commitment made to the County Commission is expected to be completed over the next three years.
