Pilatus plans $15M paint shop expansion
Pilatus has become the second aircraft manufacturer to talk this week about expanding its paint facility.
The company says it comes in response to the growing demand for the Pilatus PC-24 and Pilatus PC-12 NGX. It will be located at the Pilatus U.S. Completions Centre in Broomfield, Colorado, at Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport (BJC).
The 28,000+ square foot facility features three booths, each equipped to prep and paint the PC-24 and PC-12 NGX from base to finish
Company officials and employees recently attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by facility tours. It comes the same week as Cirrus announced the completion of the expansion of its paint facility in Minnesota.

The $15 million investment will create 25 more jobs with more expected to come as the fleet and production continue to increase. Their recent expansion will reduce logistical complexities and costs related to painting aircraft and also decrease production time, Pilatus said in a statement.
“We are proud to continue expanding our footprint and enhancing our workforce here in Colorado to meet the increased demand of the North and South American markets,” said Thomas Bosshard, President and CEO of Pilatus U.S. subsidiary, Pilatus Business Aircraft Ltd.
The U.S. Pilatus division is responsible for more than 60% of annual business aircraft sales and deliveries for the Swiss manufacturer.
Each booth is equipped with state-of-the-art technology including a 3D laser projector, as well as an environmental control system, air-sealed doors and an advanced filtration system allow for complete environmental control while processing and recycling used materials.
“Efficiency, innovation and environmental impact were the guiding principles during the design phase,” Bosshard said. “This investment allows Pilatus Business Aircraft Ltd to manage and maintain the high-quality standards and procedures set by our Swiss parent company.”
