The Bob Hoover Legacy Foundation scholarship program will resume this year, with two $10,000 scholarships to be awarded at AirVenture Oshkosh.

At the Sun ‘n Fun Innovation Preview, the Executive Director at the foundation, Jim Campbell made the announcement, honoring his dear friend and the namesake of the organization. The scholarships will resume thanks to a partnership with the Aerospace Center for Excellence.

The foundation was formed a few years before Hoover’s death in 2016. The lifelong aviation advocate wanted to uphold his legacy and protect the future of aviation. He wanted the foundation to provide safety training, mentorship, networking opportunities and financial help to the next generation.

The foundation aims to honor the precepts set by Hoover with many other organizations across aviation, working toward the same goal to preserve and support aviation.

The scholarship program began in partnership with Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) and CJP, presenting scholarships to ERAU students pursuing a career in the industry. The inaugural scholarship recipient was awarded the honor at a tribute to Hoover in 2014.

“Its mission now holds even greater significance,” the Current President of the foundation Tracy Forrest said. “ In addition to awarding future scholarships, the foundation also hopes to eventually raise funding to endow a charity in Hoover’s name. We must do all we can so that people understand who he was, and what he meant to our community.”
