Less than three weeks after its maiden flight, the Gulfstream G800 has gone transcontinental. The ultra-long-range, large-cabin private jet completed its first overseas flight on Monday.
The G800 flew from the company’s Savannah, Georgia headquarters to its facility in Farnborough, England ahead of its participation in the Farnborough International Airshow.
“To take the G800 on this trans-Atlantic trip so close to first flight is extraordinary,” said Gulfstream President Mark Burns. “Thanks to our strategic planning and the investments Gulfstream has made in our new aircraft programs, we are able to fly the G800 with remarkable efficiency and bring the aircraft directly to customers early in the flight test program, as we have in Farnborough.”

Since the first flight of the Gulfstream G800 on June 28, its flight test team has completed a long-duration flight of more than eight hours and conducted operations beyond the aircraft’s maximum operating speed and cruise altitude of Mach 0.925 and 51,000 feet.
Dubbed by Gulfstream as the longest-range business aircraft in the industry, the G800 can fly 8,000 nautical miles at Mach 0.85 and 7,000 at Mach 0.9. The cabin can be configured with up to four living areas with seating for up to 19 passengers and sleeping space for up to 10.
The Gulfstream Farnborough Service Center, where the G800 is staying for the airshow, has now been open for about a year. It can accommodate up to 13 of Gulfstream’s larger aircraft, including the G650ER, G700 and G800, offering MRO services, as well as interior refurbishments and aftermarket modifications.
